Hyannis, MA – January 28, 2016 – The Cape and Islands United Way held its 56th Annual Meeting in January, electing new board members and officers. The organization’s mission is to mobilize the caring power of communities on Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket to improve lives and advance the common good. It presently has 39 nonprofit partners across the Cape and Islands, supporting 48 programs critical human service programs that promote financial stability and health, influence positive youth development, and provide housing support.
Brian Griffin, First Vice President & Lending Center Manager of Rockland Trust was recognized for his two consecutive years as the Chairman of the board, passing on his role and best wishes to Donna Morris, co-owner of RPM Carpets & Floor Coverings. Todd Machnik of Today Real Estate was elected to Vice Chair, and Rick Penn of Puritan Cape Cod and Maria Jones of Shepley Wood Products were re-elected to their roles of Treasurer and Clerk, respectively.
Three new board members were welcomed to the Cape and Islands United Way for a three-year term. Greg Bilezikian, the owner of Dennis East International, LLC joins us with a strong commitment to philanthropy and community service. Dennis East has locations in Yarmouth, Florida and Hong Kong where home gifts and decorations are designed and distributed. He is a member of the Bilezikian Family Foundation and resides in Hyannis Port.
Chris Eosco joins us after almost thirty years of working in the banking industry primarily for Bank of America, Merrill Lynch and its legacy banks. Before retiring, Eosco held the positions of Chief Operating Officer for Counterparty Credit Risk Portfolio Management (CCRPM) and Chief Country Operating Officer, Europe and Emerging Markets. Eosco has served as a director on numerous corporate and community boards. She and her husband split their time between their homes in Dennis and in Italy.
Kevin Howard joins the Cape and Islands United Way as the Chief Marketing and Community Engagement Officer at Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank. He has extensive experience in managing Cape Cod-based arts non-profits and in real estate development. He currently serves as Treasurer and Public Policy Chair for the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, where he previously served as Board Chairman. Howard also serves on the board of the Cape Symphony and Conservatory. He resides in West Barnstable.
At the meeting the board also recognized and honored outgoing board members: Mark McCartin of Dowling & O’Neil Insurance, Bill Fallon of Fallon Financial Services, John Dorn of Law Office of John C. Dorn, Heidi Grinsell of Law Offices of Eugene R. Curry, and John Shea of Safe Harbor Business, Estate and Asset Protection Planning.
