The Cape and Islands United Way has a unique birds-eye view of the nonprofit sector in the region. From this vantage point we see that our community challenges are interconnected in a very complex way. Providing long-term, collective solutions and an integrated continuum of services is paramount, as is encouraging a lean and strategically-aligned nonprofit sector. Our goal, ultimately, is to make sure that the contributions entrusted to us are invested as wisely as possible to achieve strong, viable, safe communities across this beautiful region. Together – as donors, business and community leaders, volunteers, nonprofit service providers and funders – we are a powerful force for sustainable change.
Funding for the upcoming grant cycle will be guided by the organization’s new Results Framework, the culmination of a years’ research and planning, directed by the newly appointed Community Impact Council. The Council will act as an advisory committee to the Board and is comprised of regional representatives who bring specific expertise in the areas of HEALTH, EDUCATION, FINANCIAL STABILITY, and HOUSING. The purpose of the Council is to identify and prioritize proven strategies that will help achieve sustainable solutions.
